Doug Cole

Doug is an honours graduate of Seneca College’s law and security program as well as an honours graduate of the Ontario Police College. Doug spent over 29 and a half years serving the citizens of York Region as a police officer, working in various capacities. During Doug’s policing career he worked in general patrol, crime analytics, general investigations, and numerous specialty squads including the Drug Squad, Homicide Unit, Hold Up Squad, Guns and Gangs, Major Projects, Strategic Services, and finally completing his policing career as a Staff Sergeant in the Training and Education Bureau.

Doug has received over 30 recognitions for his policing work as well as 5 excellence in policing awards from the police appreciation committee. Doug also earned 2 excellence in policing awards from the Canadian Bankers Association for his work on bank robbery investigations. Doug is a former Canadian representative, lecturer, and board member of the Eastern States Vice Investigators Association where he specialized in educating international police officers in human trafficking.

Doug has testified in all levels of court and has been deemed an expert by the Ministry of the Attorney General in regards to electronic surveillance. Doug has had multiple special designations from the Ministry of the Attorney General for covert and wiretap investigations. Doug was an instructor for the Central Intelligence Services of Ontario for 12 years in areas concerning wiretaps and other covert and electronic investigations. Doug was responsible for the training and implementation of the electronic telewarrant system, business intelligence and data analytics program, as well as the digital evidence management system for over 1800 members of York Regional Police.

Doug loves to read fiction novels where he pretends to think he could be like Jack Reacher. Doug has been spending his retirement with his wife and kids and catching up on that much neglected “to do” list.
